I offer exam preparation courses for doctors and nurses who wish to work in English speaking countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. To register to work as a nurse or doctor in these countries it is necessary to prove competence in all 4 English language skills, reading, writing, speaking and listening. The 2 most widely accepted tests are the IELTS academic and OET.
As a retired medical doctor and certified teacher of English as a foreign language, I am in the fortunate position to be able to help you achieve success in these tests so that you can live and work abroad. I am also listed on the OET as an official OET preparation provider.
The OET (occupational English test) is a test specifically designed for healthcare professionals. It is widely recognised as proof of an advanced level of English, suitable for registration, study and work in the healthcare sector, as well as for visas in some countries. An added bonus is that during the course you will learn the type of language that you will need to use every day in the workplace.
OET or IELTS?
In deciding which test to choose there are a number of different factors to consider, such the requirements of your profession’s regulatory body in the country you would like to work, test centre locations and the test dates available, to name just a few. I think most importantly however, is to know that neither test is easy and that both tests require an advanced level of English.
If you would like help preparing for either of these tests or would just like advice on which test to choose, please feel free to contact me.
